Miss Jessie Norton and Miss Lucy Kisky carried in litters, Peru, ca. 1947

Black and white lantern slide showing Miss Jessie Norton (a medical missionary in Lamas) and Miss Lucy Kisky (Matron of the Orphanage Home of the Peruvian Inland Mission) being carried in litters on the backs of Peruvian porters. The canvas chairs are attached to the porters with straps around their heads and waists. Four other porters carry luggage with similar waist and head straps. The group is in a grassland area. This slide comes from a collection created by the Peruvian Inland Mission, an evangelical mission started in 1930 by Miss Annie G Soper in northeast Peru, which was administered by the evangelical interdenominational mission, Regions Beyond Missionary Union from 1948.
