This research is a policy evaluation of the Belgian system of centralized wage-setting, which contains the "loonnorm", or wage-norm, that limits real wage increases of the Belgian employee. It evaluates the key instrument of this law, the "loonkostenhandicap", as an instrument to maintain the international competitiveness of the Belgian economy. The study discusses micro- and macroeconomic theory on a graduate level.
