R Code from Casey et al., 2026 "The potential for false positive range size-extinction risk signals in the mammalian fossil record"

The R codes and necessary base files to replicate analyses reported in Casey et al., 2026 "The potential for false positive range size-extinction risk signals in the mammalian fossil record". Codes include simulation of geographic range size for terrestrial North American mammals, codes to run extinction experiments, and codes to generate all figures plotted in the manuscript. Base files include the Rancholabrean mammal-bearing fossil localities (downloaded from the Paleobiology Database), the ArcGIS shapefiles with all true mammal ranges downloaded from IUCN Red List, and an excel file with the modern geographic range size for each speices (quantified using various range metrics) and the average species body mass.
