VPRS 9955 RMS Thesaurus (Central Registry Correspondence)

This series comprises a thesaurus which provided a standardised list of terms for key word indexing and subject searching on the automated Record Management System (RMS). The RMS controlled VPRS 8948 Central Registry Correspondence Files, Single Number System.Keywords were assigned to files and documents entered on RMS. These keywords were intended to represent the key concepts in the file or documents. The principle philosophy of indexing was the use of keyword terms that specifically outlined the subject contents of a general correspondence file, for example, a document describing an electrical accident would have been assigned the term Electrical Accidents.
