Rose scented pelargoniums are economically important cultivars for essential oil production because of their high content in rose and lemon scented compounds. We sequenced RNA extracted from P. x hybridum rosat ''Grasse'' leaf by Roche 454 pyrosequencing to serve as source material for candidate gene identification of new terpene synthases and terpene modifying enzymes involved in pelargonium EO composition.
