资源简介:

This dataset contains raw PacBio full-length 16S rRNA fastq sequencing reads from fecal microbiota samples of dogs following oral daily probiotic and postbiotic supplementation (ODPPS). These data were generated as part of the study “Oral probiotic and postbiotic supplementation enhances the abundance of Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus johnsonii, and Limosilactobacillus reuteri in both canine skin and gastrointestinal microbiota: insights from long-read 16S rRNA gene sequencing” accepted in Veterinary Research Communications (DOI: 10.1007/s11259-025-10962-y). Samples were collected longitudinally at three time points (Day 0, Day 30, and Day 90): Samples were collected at three time points: • Day 0 – baseline (before ODPPS) • Day 30 – short-term supplementation • Day 90 – long-term supplementation enabling assessment of microbiota changes in response to ODPPS. DNA was extracted from fecal samples using the QIAGEN DNeasy Blood and Tissue Kit, followed by PacBio SMRTbell library preparation and sequencing on the Sequel II/IIe platform. Data comprise circular consensus sequencing (CCS) HiFi reads (~1.5 kb), suitable for microbial community profiling and taxonomic classification using tools such as Greengenes2 and QIAGEN CLC Microbial Genomics Module. For details of experimental design, sample processing, sequencing, and analysis, refer to the manuscript and supplementary materials. These data enable comprehensive investigations of gut microbiota composition and its modulation by probiotic and postbiotic interventions in dogs, and support comparative analyses of skin and gastrointestinal microbial communities.
