IAI-Data-CRN_012_Marchesini_Notho: Growth and the herbivory of Nothofagus nervosa seedlings

During 2001 a native forest in the South of Argentina experienced the
massive flowering and death of the bamboo Chusquea culeou, a dominant
understory species. We proposed to assess the impact of this event on:
a) the environmental factors and b) the population dynamics of forest
vegetation. We recorded air and soil temperature, relative air
humidity and light intensity under two conditions: death and green
bamboo. We also registered the survirvoship, growth and herbivory
rates on Nothofagus nervosa, a canopy dominant tree and Chusquea
culeou seedlings. We monitored the growth and the herbivory of
Nothofagus nervosa seedlings under two conditions, green and dead
bamboo in different moments of the year. We measured height, number of
leaf, number of damaged leaf and number of sprouts per plant.
