Media Consumption in Ukraine (2024) – Nationwide public opinion survey from 3 to 12 March 2024

The nationwide representative survey was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation in cooperation with the Centre of Political Sociology from 3 to 12 March 2024, at the request of the UA Recovery Window Media Network. The survey includes questions that examine patterns of media and content consumption, levels of public trust in the media and the criteria underpinning that trust, as well as the platforms through which individuals engage with information from public authorities. The dataset also contains key socio-demographic characteristics of respondents, including gender, age, macro-region of residence, type of settlement, level of education, and financial situation. A total of 2,001 respondents aged 18 and over were interviewed face-to-face across Ukraine. In the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions, the survey was conducted only in areas under the control of the Government of Ukraine and not subject to active hostilities. The survey employed a stratified multi-stage sampling method, with random selection at the initial stages and quota-based respondent selection at the final stage, based on gender and age quotas. The sample structure reflects the demographic composition of the adult population in the surveyed areas as of early 2022, by age, gender, and settlement type. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%. However, additional systematic deviations may have arisen as a result of the consequences of Russian aggression, particularly the forced displacement of millions of citizens. This dataset contains the original survey data in SPSS (.sav) format, available in both Ukrainian and English. It has also been exported to an Excel file, with the contents of the corresponding XLSX file being identical to the original SAV file.
