Proneural transcription factors mediate stem cell homeostasis in different systems and exhibit impressive oncogenic and reprogramming capacities. In early Drosophila embryos, proneurals regulate neuroblast specification from the bipotent ventral and cephalic neuroectoderm. However, how proneurals channel neural selection at the chromatin level remains elusive. To explore this, we generated and combined genome-wide proneural binding profiles, chromatin accessibility marks and RNA expression datasets using a neuroectodermal GAL4 driver.
