DOC是海洋碳循环的重要组成部分,它构成了海洋中最重要的碳储库之一。海洋中DOC的储量达到685 Gt (1015g),与大气中CO2的碳储量相当。DOC的生产与消耗过程发生微小的波动,都可能影响到海洋与大气CO2的平衡。因此,了解DOC在海洋中产生、迁移、转化与去除的循环过程,已经成为海洋学家关注的热点和面临的挑战之一。 本数据为中国第37次南极科学考察海洋溶解有机碳(DOC)分析数据,对了解南极及邻区海域吸收或转移CO2的过程、机制和能力,了解南极特定海区碳的生物地球化学特征、研究其对全球气候变化的贡献和对我国气候和海洋环境影响具有重要意义。 2020年中国第37次南极科学考察期间,开展了普里兹湾、南极半岛等重点海域海水分水层溶解有机碳的调查。本数据为第37次南极考察期间海水溶解有机碳(DOC)分水层调查分析数据,调查水深范围为0~200m。

Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) is a critical component of the marine carbon cycle and constitutes one of the most prominent carbon reservoirs in the global ocean. The total oceanic DOC inventory reaches 685 Gt (10^15 g), which is comparable to the carbon stock of atmospheric CO₂. Even minor fluctuations in DOC production and consumption processes can disrupt the CO₂ equilibrium between the ocean and the atmosphere. As such, elucidating the cyclic processes of DOC production, transport, transformation and removal in marine environments has become a prominent research focus and a key challenge for oceanographers. This dataset contains analytical data of marine Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) collected during China’s 37th Antarctic Scientific Expedition. It is of great significance for comprehending the processes, mechanisms and CO₂ uptake/transfer capacity of the Antarctic and its adjacent marine waters, clarifying the biogeochemical characteristics of carbon in specific Antarctic marine areas, and exploring their contributions to global climate change as well as their impacts on China’s climate and marine environment. During the 2020 China’s 37th Antarctic Scientific Expedition, surveys of dissolved organic carbon in seawater across discrete depth layers were conducted in key marine areas including Prydz Bay and the Antarctic Peninsula. This dataset comprises the analytical data from the depth-layer-resolved DOC surveys carried out during the 37th Antarctic Scientific Expedition, with the surveyed water depth ranging from 0 to 200 meters.
