DATASET FOR STUDY: Effects of Kinesiology and Dynamic Tape on Postural Control and Joint Repositioning Error: A Randomized Crossover Study

This study investigated whether static balance and knee joint position sense acutely improve after the application of Kinesiology tape (KT) or Dynamic tape (DT), and whether there is a difference in effectiveness between the two tapes. The study included 26 healthy young adults (age: 21.05 ± 2.1 years) who received KT and DT on separate days and on one leg only. Measurements included a single-leg stance with open eyes on a force plate and active knee joint position reproduction (JPR) test with a digital goniometer before and immediately after KT or DT application. The results showed no statistically significant differences in postural sway amplitude. A statistically significant main effect of time was observed for anterior-posterior sway velocity (p = .023, η² = .205) and medio-lateral sway velocity (p = .009, η² = .261), but no differences were found regarding leg, not leg × time interaction, indicating that was no systematic effect of tape application or difference between DT and KT. No significant time effect or interactions were found for JPR (p > .05). The results indicate that the application of KT or DT does not acutely improve static balance or kinesthesia in healthy individuals, and that there is no difference between the two tapes.
