Spatial mobility of microbes in arbuscular mycorrhizal hyphosphere

In experiments with manipulated microbial diversity we addressed whether mobility of chitin-degrading microorganisms along arbuscular mycorrhizal hyphae ensured efficient mineralization and nitrogen acquisition from organic patches (amended with isotopically labeled chitin) in the root-free zone. This research encompassed massively parallel sequencing analyses of various microbial guilds in different soil zones in treatments supplied with size-fractionated microbiomes.
