Salmonella in Nigeria Broiler Production Chain

Nigeria’s high population growth requires corresponding increase in supply of animal proteins and jobs. This encourages rapid increase in broiler production due to its inherent trait of faster turnover compare to other animal protein sources. However food safety is still one of the major concerns. Salmonella prevalence has been a big concern in Nigeria poultry economically and for food safety threat. Therefore, study and isolation of Salmonella in broiler production chain will assist towards understanding the Salmonella epidemiology in Nigeria which will contributes to its control. Hence the need to store the observed isolates sequence for future references.
