Multi-omics analyses discover a fetal gene enriched cardiomyocyte group progresses to pathological remodeling in early cardiac hypertrophy

Cardiac pressure overload induces cardiac hypertrophy and eventually leads to heart failure. The initial stage of hypertrophy is a compensatory mechanism, and the early induction of fetal genes, such as Myh7 and Nppa, are present in a subset of cardiomyocytes. We hypothesize that compared to non-expressed cardiomyocytes, the fetal gene expressed cardiomyocytes progress to pathological remodeling early at the beginning of pressure-overload.
