The invention relates to a method for producing a multi-layer wet-running friction material (14) with at least one base (2) and at least one top layer (1)， which are connected to one another in a materially integral manner. In order to simplify the production of a multilayer wet-running friction material (14)， the base (2) and the top layer (1) are first made of different materials independently of one another before the base (2) is connected to the top layer (1).
