Deep metaproteomics study on aerobic granular sludge wastewater microbiome

Summary goals: We provide a deep comparative study between metaproteomics and DNA based approaches on the complex aerobic granular sludge core microbiome and the central nutrient-removing organisms.Relevance: The study demonstrates the importance of orthogonal approaches when characterizing complex microbiomes as well as the necessity of accurate reference sequence databases for improved comparability between methods and studies.
