Endophytic microbiome in field plant shoot-tip tissues. endophyte metagenome strain:tomato, watermelon, periwinkle and maize

The study was undertaken to get an estimate of the gross endophytic bacterial diversity in the shoot-tip tissues four representative plants, namely, tomato, watermelon, periwinkle and maize adopting cultivation versus 16S rRNA gene taxonomic profiling. Cultivation based approach showed very low or no cfu. On the other hand, 16S rRNA gene V3-V4 profiling revealed a high bacterial diversity. This indicated the prevalence of diverse endophytic bacteria in field shoot-tip tissues in an uncultivable form.
