The life and leisure situation of young people in the district of
Offenbach.

Topics: Leisure contacts; proportion of leisure time on the individual
weekdays; place of leisure activities; boredom; objects available for
organization of leisure time; memberships and intensity of
participation in club events; one´s own residence; one´s own room;
housing situation and judgement on residential surroundings; judgement
on family climate as well as personal upbringing received; members of
household and intensity of contacts with family members; type and
extent of activities together with parents; most important contentious
issues between young people and parents; interest of parents in leisure
contacts and knowledge about type and place of leisure activities;
consent of parents with leisure activities; participation in leisure
activities, only because it is expected by parents; detailed
determination of frequency and partners for sport and leisure
activities; desired partner for most important occupations; type of
school attended; time expended for the route to school; interest in
school; reason for the attitude to school; relationship with teachers
and students; judgement on class climate; political knowledge and
political interest; probability of personally joining a party;
knowledge about home town; use of alcohol and cigarettes per day; size
of circle of friends; most frequently being together with partner or in
the group; group size; place of getting to know friends; type of
conflict management among friends; presence and visit to youth
facilities in residential area; judgement on these facilities; desired
public leisure facilities; preferred financial provider and
decision-maker for such facilities; number of siblings; employment of

Working young people were also asked: occupation exercised; work
satisfaction and atmosphere at work; commuting time to work; last
exercised occupation.

Demography: age; sex; age and number of siblings; household size;
characteristics of head of household; residential status.

Interviewer rating: presence of parents during the interview;
judgement on residential area.

Also encoded was: identification of interviewer; age of interviewer;
sex of interviewer.
