Bacillus velezensis B6 performed good biocontrol efficacy in suppressing some plant diseases like cucumber Fusarium wilt disease and pepper Phytophthora blight through successful colonization and producing antifungal metabolites in rhizosphere. However, the related genes involved in its biocontrol functions have not been known well. The genome analysis of strain B6 and its surfactin-deficient mutant B1020 which performed less suppression of fusarium wilt disease will provide insights into the genomic basis of its antifungal mechanisms, further inspect the genes related to new substances which play important roles in suppressing disease development, and explore the potential of this strain used as a biocontrol agent or as biofertilizer.
