VPRS 7351 Court of Mines Register (1866-1901) and Journal (1880-1940)

This series comprises two complementary volumes, identified on each spine and the pages therein as a Court of Mines Register and 'Court of Mines Journal. The register records cases heard before the actual court. The journal appears to record the circumstances of matters brought presumably before the Clerk of Courts when the initial matter was raised. For the great majority of entries, the matters raised in the journal were dealt with without a formal hearing before the court (for example the matter was transferred to another Court of Mines) and so were not entered into the register. Most of the matters raised in these volumes were attempts to liquidate mining companies. This series was originally titled Court of Mines Registers of Mining Company Liquidations, Kyneton by service providers. An evaluation of the supplied documentation in 2025 amended both the series title and series description.
