Underexposed areas in psoriasis care: insights from real world evidence

Data belong to Chapters 5 and 6 in the Thesis 'Underexposed Areas of Psoriasis Care: Insights from Real World Evidence'.

A cross-sectional study was performed between August 2021 and February 2022, in which Dutch patients with psoriasis ≥16 years were asked to fill out an open web-based survey. Promotion by the Dutch Psoriasis Patients Association and on social media brought the survey under national attention. This study was reviewed by the regional Ethics Committee and was deemed not to fall within the scope of the Medical Research Involving Human Subjects Act. Data was collected anonymously via Qualtrics Survey Software. The survey was initially created for the BENEFIT for All lifestyle program designed for patients with cardiovascular diseases, and was modified to incorporate specific psoriasis-related questions in collaboration with the Dutch Psoriasis Patients Association and the Dutch Psoriasis Scientific Research Foundation (SWOP). Its adaptation resulted in a large survey with multiple choice questions as well as open-ended questions, primarily aimed to study the lifestyle of patients with psoriasis. Chapter 6 describes the lifestyle of patients with psoriasis and their attitudes towards lifestyle changes. Elements of this adapted survey were also employed to capture factors associated with moderate-to-severe depression and/or anxiety in patients with psoriasis, as described in Chapter 5.
