资源简介:
In October 1997, St. Louis District personnel visited the New Mexico Army National Guard (NMARNG) Headquarters and the Museum of New Mexico, Laboratory of Anthropology, Archaeological Records Management Section (ARMS) in Santa Fe to research archaeological and historic buildings survey work conducted on eight federally owned or supported National Guard facilities in the state.
This document reports the history of cultural investigations on these NMARNG facilities, lists archaeological sites and historic buildings recorded within facility boundaries, discusses historic contexts and predictive models, and provides a list of Native American tribes that may be culturally affiliated to archaeological collections recovered from NMARNG facilities.
To date, 119 archaeological sites and numerous isolated artifact finds have been recorded on four NMARNG facilities: Camel Tracks Training Area, Deming Training Area and Rifle Range, Hawk Battalion, and Roswell Training Area. No cultural properties located on NMARNG facilities have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but 59 have been deemed eligible or potentially eligible. The extent, nature, and location of archaeological collections recovered from work conducted on NMARNG facilities will be determined in the second phase of this project, to be completed during Fiscal Year 1999.
