Chromatin immunoprecipitation in tephritid fruit flies

Tephritids are important pest fruit flies and subject for intriguing evolutionary questions related to mating behaviour and sexual selection. While the behaviour those fruit flies are studied extensively, mechanisms, especially genetics, underpinning the behaviours are not thoroughly studied. One of the reasons for lack of knowledge on genetic mechanisms is unavailability of reliable protocols to employ advanced molecular techniques (e.g. ChIP-seq). Hence, through this project, we developed a working protocol for chromatin immunoprecipitation and sequencing (ChIP-seq) that successfully worked for several tephritid fruit flies.
