Culture and Leisure Barometer 1998, Children

The purpose of this survey is to obtain information for statistical and scientific assessment of spare time activities and cultural activities of children. # The data material is obtained by means of interviews with selected children between 7 and 15 years of age as the parents were asked if they would allow that their child was interviewed. # #The following information is included from the interviews: #Information on children between 7 and 15 years of age (both years included): #- Being together with and activities with the parents. #- Being together with and activities with friends. #- Time consumption in school and on homework. #- Types of after school care arrangements. #- Scheduled spare time activities (type and time consumption). # Own (self-organized) spare time activities. #- Work. Participation in household duties and spare time job. #- Reading habits as regards fiction, specialist literature, # comics, light reading, and magazines on special topics. # Newspaper reading habits and preferred topics in the papers. #- Library habits. Frequency and purpose. #- TV habits and preferred programmes. Radio habits and # preferred programmes. #- Cinema visits. # Films on video and TV. #- Music, concerts, including type of music. # Use of electronic media (CD, LP, LB). # Own music and song performance. #- Theatre visits. #- Museum visits. #- Sports and exercise.
