State of Origin for USDA Foods in Fiscal Year 2020

Excerpts: The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Service’s (FNS) Food Distribution Programs provide food and nutrition assistance to schoolchildren and families and support American agriculture by distributing high-quality, 100 percent American-grown USDA Foods. This report analyzes State-of-origin data for fiscal year (FY) 2020, which captures the quantity and dollar value of USDA Foods purchased from each State from October 2019 through September 2020, using regularly appropriated program funds. The five States with the highest dollar value of USDA Foods purchases from the State are California, Minnesota, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
