These data describe the plankton metacommunity in ponds at Lux Arbor Reserve (Barry County, Michigan, USA) from May-September 2011 and associated dispersal and experimental mesocosm data. Data are separated into phytoplankton/protozoa and metazoan zooplankton. Five types of plankton sample data are included: (P) local pond surveys, (A) dispersal trap abundances, (B) unassembled mesocosms with filtered water from the adjacent focal pond, (C) assembled mesocosms with unfiltered water from the adjacent focal pond, and (D) unassembled mesocosms with well water. Data for B, C, and D are only available for metazoan zooplankton.
