Vulnerability of six cold-water corals to sediment resuspension from bottom trawling fishing - DATASET

The dataset is related to "Vulnerability of six cold-water corals to sediment resuspension from bottom trawling fishing" research article. The aim of the experiment was to evaluate survival, growth and physiology of six cold-water coral species when exposed to increased suspended sediment concentration (SSC). The treatments are labeled Control, Low SSC and High SSC. The experiment was performed at Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM) in Barcelona during 9 months. 

The dataset consists of five sheets in an excel workbook. 

Scle_polypN sheet includes scleractinian species polyp numbers at the 0, 4 and 9 months since the start of the experiment.

Scle_BW sheet includes scleractinian species buoyant weight in grams measured at 0, 4, 7 and 9 months of the start of the experiment. There are two columns at 9 month, one labeled incubation (when the coral was measured after metabolic incubation) and final (when coral was measured day before the end of the experiment). 

BC_Gor_Length sheet includes nubbin length data in meters for a black coral (BC) and gorgonian (Gor) measured at 1, 4 and 9 months from the start of the experiment. For each measure error of the scale bar is reported as well. 

Respiration sheet includes data collected during metabolic incubations performed at 4 and 9 months of the start of the experiment. For scleractinian species it is reported as µmol O2 g-1d-1 and for black coral and gorgonian as µmol O2 cm-1d-1 , found in the last column.

Excretion sheet includes data collected during metabolic incubations performed at 4 and 9 months of the start of the experiment. For scleractinian species it is reported as µmol NH4 g-1d-1 and for black coral and gorgonian as µmol NH4 cm-1d-1 , found in the last column.
