Kiel South Asia Typological Database

This database presently contains 236 typological features in 49 languages: Feature values: 1 – the respective feature is found in this language 0 – the respective feature is not found in this language ? – it is not clear from the available sources whether this feature is found in the respective language A, C etc. – nominal values, from GramBank A <strong>blank</strong> or <strong>empty</strong> field is used for languages which are currently being processed. This applies mostly to features other than negation, where data on negation have already been collected but the other features have not, e.g. Kashmiri, Gujarati, Marwari, Balochi, etc. Occasionally, e.g. in the case of Gutob, Magahi, Khortha, Pipaltar Darai, etc., this is the other way around, with data on most features having been completed, but not yet on negation. Questionnaire A: Features whose designation begins with “GB” Questionnaire B: Features whose designation begins with “JPP” Questionnaire C: Features SA001-SA070 Questionnaire D: Features SA071-SA086 Of the 238 features, three (GB057, JPP13 and SA012) refer to the same criteria, so that in total there are <strong><em>236 unique features</em></strong> in the database.
