Aeolian diatom dispersal dynamics

We detected and identified diatoms in wind-blown material from a polar desert characterized by ephemerallyconnected aquatic habitats. Wind dispersal integrates diatom taxa from across the region, contributing tometacommunity structure. This work represents among the first confirmed recordings of aeolian dispersal as amechanism for benthic diatom metacommunity assembly.
