Blitum venetum (Chenopodiaceae), a new species from north-eastern Dolomites (Italian Eastern Alps). Blitum venetum sp. nov.

During samplings for a study on Chenopodium sensu lato, a plant population ascribable to the genus Blitum was found in Dolomites massif (North-Western Italy). Based on a detailed literature search, the examination of herbaria specimens (including type material) and molecular analyses, we identified and described the population as a new species of the genus Blitum: Blitum venetum.
