Utilization of human milk oligosaccharides by infant gut consortium

The experiment consists of the use of human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) by an infant microbial consortium, the consortium is composed of 7 bacteria: bifidobacterium bifidum, bifidobacterium breve, bifidobacterium infantis, bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, escherichia coli, lachnoclostridium symbiosum and pediococcus acidilactici. A mixture of 3 predominant HMOs in breast milk, lacto-n-tetraose (LNT), 2'-fucosyllactose (2'FL) and 3'-sialyllactose (3'SL), was used as the main carbon source. The main objective of this study is to appreciate the main differences in gene expression of the consortium when removing one bacterium by one within the experiments.
