Genetic Diversity and Selection Signatures in a global Collection of Hazelnut

We used a genotyping-by-sequencing approach to characterise the within-species agrobiodiversity of a global collection of hazelnut varieties, describing the diversity of 141 non-redundant accessions with a high-quality dataset of variants. Population genetics analyses were used to reveal genetic clusters as well as ancestral populations of which the investigated genotypes are composed. Loci under particular selective pressure between genetic clusters were investigated and possible targets for exploiting untapped breeding potential were highlighted.
