The goal of the original study is to characterize the composition of the bacterial microbiota associated with the weevil species Mecinus pascuorum. Specimens were collected manually around Lund, in South Sweden, following a rural-urban transect. DNA was extracted from full bodies, and the bacterial gene 16S rRNA was amplified and sequenced on an Illumina platform.
