Breakdown of credit institutions in Vietnam 2019, by asset share

In 2019, state-owned commercial banks accounted for 42.2 percent of the total assets of credit institutions in Vietnam, which made them the credit institutions with the most assets. With 42 percent of total assets, joint-stock commercial banks had the second-largest share of assets. Once dominated by state-owned commercial banks, Vietnam's credit institution sector now includes a growing segment of non-state-owned banks.
