Kinetics of denitrification at low pH by native soil microbial communities

Denitrification is a major source of emissions of the greenhouse gas N2O. pH has been shown to have a pervasive effect on denitrification enzyme activities and therefore the transient accumulation of intermediate products, including N2O. Here the effect of pH on the denitrification kinetics of two soils of differing pH are examined using high resolution kinetics measurements in conjunction with metatranscriptomics, metagenomics and 16S amplicon community profiling.
