A seed removal, germination and seedling development experiment was conducted to test how seed removal, germination and seedling development of sessile oaks (Quercus petraea) depend on seed size, shape and other traits under closely and distantly related canopies, by manipulating offspring density, presence of insects, and fungi, and spatial proximity to oaks.
