The Compact Elliptical Galaxy PGC032873

Compact elliptical galaxies (CEGs) are local analogs of the highredshift rednuggets.. thought to represent progenitors of today.s earlytype galaxies. CEGs,being lowredshift, are much more accessible to detailed observational study.Analysis of shallow Chandra observations of two wellstudied CEGs in optical/IRreveals extended, luminous hot gas halos implying massive galaxies with M200 virgul(510) x 10^{12} Msun.
