Mapping and comparison of the B-cell epitopes recognized on the Plasmodium vivax circumsporozoite protein by immune Colombians and immunized Aotus monkeys.

The sequence is a construct of three copies of the variant-type sequence derived from the central repeat domain of the P. vivax circumsporozoite protein. The variant repeat sequence is reported to be ANGAGNQPG in accession no. 160122. Sera from 19 of 121donors from two communities in a malaria-endemic region of the Colombian Pacific coast had antibodies to the epitope, which was less than the number of responders to the common type repeat sequence GDRADGQPA. The percent of positive sera from donors from Zacarias (13 of 65; 20%) was higher than from Bajo Calima (6 of 56; 11%).
