This article presents an alternative etymological hypothesis linking the French word “<b>bras”</b> (arm, wall lamp), the English “<b>bra”</b> (brassiere), and the Russian “<b>brat’”</b> (to take). In contrast to conventional views, the author of this article proposes examining the etymology of these words through the lens of Old Russian and Old Slavonic dialects, emphasizing the complex structure of the Russian verb “brat’”.
