Here, we used 16S sequencing to characterise the bacterial communities associated with the kelps, Laminaria hyperborea and Saccharina latissima at eight sites in the United Kingdom. These sites spanned 9° of latitude and a 2.5 °C gradient in mean annual sea surface temperature.
