Permanent plot of Taiwania plantation in LiuKuei

It began extensive plantation in LiuKuei Experimental Forest since 1972. According to the management planning of LiuKuei Experimental Forest, the plantation areas had 1560 hectare until 2006. The plantation areas contributed 16.22% to the total experimental forest area (9616 ha), and 51.6 percent (805 ha) of the total plantation areas has been planted to Taiwania trees. Taiwania has become an significant species for plantations over the past few years, and it is very important to understand the growth and forest management of Taiwania plantation trees. Therefore, the Taiwania permanent plots were established in different forest density, forest age, land gradient, and elevation sites. Studies on the management and tree growth characteristics in Taiwania plantation provided some basic practiced information for sustainable management of forest ecosystem.
