Neurodegenerative diseases and mental disorders in human pineal gland

Our objective is a study of the human pineal gland (PG), with a focus on identifying signs of degenerative changes of brain tissue in neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's disease) and mental disorders (schizophrenia). X-ray nano-holotomography techniques can provide detailed information about the structural changes occurring in the PG of human affected by the pathologies. This knowledge can contribute to the development of targeted therapeutic interventions for neurodegenerative and mental diseases and improve our understanding of the underlying mechanisms involved.
