资源简介:
India has a unique demographic profile with a large youth population that is increasingly adopting sedentary habits due to academic and professional demands. These lifestyle changes can negatively impact core muscle function, particularly the transverse abdominis (TrA), a key stabilizer of the spine and lumbopelvic region. This data evaluated TrA activation in 384 Indian youths (192 males, 192 females) aged 15–29 years using the Deep Muscle Contraction (DMC) Scale during the Abdominal Drawing-In Maneuver (ADIM). The mean DMC score was 5.23 out of 10, indicating moderate TrA activation, with no significant gender differences observed. Despite males having higher anthropometric values, these did not influence activation levels significantly. Given the rising sedentary behavior, early detection of TrA dysfunction is critical. Strengthening the TrA can enhance spinal stability and help prevent low back pain (LBP), making core training an essential preventive strategy for both routine and athletic activities in this vulnerable age group.
