These are data files associated with,Lovett, G., Hart, J., Christenson, L. and Jones, Clive G. Caterpillar guts and ammonia volatilization: retention of nitrogen by gypsy moth larvae consuming oak foliage. Oecologia 117, 513–516 (1998).<br>This study investigated whether defoliation of forest canopies could accelerate ecosystem nitrogen losses via ammonia (NH3) volatilization. These data were generated in laboratory experiments that measured volatilization of NH3 from gypsy moth caterpillars feeding on oak leaves.
