This project aimed to understand the alterations that would occur to an environmental sample’s microbial community and geochemistry during an experimental incubation of CO2 saturated aquifer water and rock from the Newark Rift Basin. 16S rRNA gene sequence libraries were created from samples collected before and after the incubation. This lab study has relevance for evaluating microbial and biogeochemical alterations expected to occur during geological CO2 storage.
