Supporting code and datasets for "Reconstructing climate from coral skeletal banding: statistical effects of replicating cores and observers"

This repository contains the datasets and R code supporting our study on observer variability and chronological uncertainty in coral paleoclimatology. The primary data includes datasets of raw and derived coral growth metrics (linear extension and skeletal bulk density) from 10 Porites cores collected at Dongsha Atoll. To assess measurement subjectivity, these datasets capture the independent annual band placements generated by 12 distinct observers. We have also included the regional HadISST dataset used to evaluate the climate sensitivity of these records, alongside the R script needed to process the time series, calculate Inter-Series Correlation (ISC) statistics, and run all associated coral-climate statistical analyses.
