Canadian Gallup Poll, December 1989, #912_1

This Gallup poll seeks the opinions of Canadians, on predominantly political and social issues. The questions ask opinions of Sunday shopping, impressions of political personalities such as Jean Chretien, Grant Devine, Donald Getty, Joe Ghiz, Frank McKenna, Clyde Wells, the Meech Lake Accord, the Government's treatment of Native Canadians, concern of the state of the environment, free trade, and who would make the best Prime Minister. There are also questions on other topics of interest such as Quebec separation, concern over the cost of housing, day care, abortion, premarital sex, illegal drug use, threat of nuclear war, and questions related to political party preference. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographic, political and social variables. Topics of interest include: Sunday shopping; Jean Chretien; Meech Lake Accord; Government treatment of Native Canadians; environment; free trade; Quebec separation; cost of housing; abortion; day care; premarital sex; concern over illegal drug use; and political party preference. Basic demographic variables are also included.
