Survey of hospice and palliative care bereavement services in Australia: data

Professor Margaret O'Connor (Vivian Bullwinkel Chair of Palliative Nursing, Monash University) co-ordinated the Australian component of a three country comparative study on palliative care bereavement support services. Palliative Care Australia (Australia's peak national body concerned with quality care at end of life) distributed print surveys to 510 identified service providers in Australia and the (143) completed surveys were mailed back to the School of Nursing (Monash University) where the data was entered into SPSS to be analysed. The results of the analysed Australian data was then compared to similar survey results supplied by the International Observatory on End of Life Care (School of Health and Medicine, Lancaster University, UK) and Lehman College (City University New York, USA) who collected their own country data from individual surveys
