This application helps Broward County residents, planners, and emergency managers identify hotter areas and locate nearby cooling assets to reduce heat exposure. It supports preparedness, response, and equity planning during heat events. What’s included Surface Temperature layer visualized with a continuous color ramp (e.g., warmer → cooler). Critical Assets feature layer with categories: Community Centers Health Care Facility Hospital Schools Libraries Filters (left panel): Municipality Risk Level (if available from forecast model/indices) Asset Type Temperature Range Explore Additional Layers panel (e.g., charts showing number of critical assets). Swipe tool to compare layers side‑by‑side. Routing & Cooler Paths (right panel): Enter a start and end point to find safer/cooler travel routes during hot conditions. 5‑Day Heat Forecast (right panel): Displays forecasted heat risk and helps plan ahead. How to use Use Filter by Municipality to focus on a city or area of interest. Apply Risk Level and Temperature Range filters to highlight places with higher heat exposure. Select Asset Type (e.g., Library) to locate cooling locations near you. Use Cooler Paths to get suggested routes that favor cooler streets/segments when available. Toggle the Swipe tool to compare surface temperature against critical assets or other contextual layers. Check the 5‑Day Heat Forecast to plan travel or services ahead of hot days.
