NCEM Branches

The NC Division of Emergency Managemet, Department of Public Safety has divided the state into three branches, and each branch is composed of areas consisting of six to eight counties for coordination efforts. Each area is represented by an Area Coordinator who performs consultative and coordinative work in assisting local govenrments in planning, training, mitigation, and emergency repsonse efforts. The Area Coordinator serves as a liason between the Division of Emergency Management and the local governments. Within the boundaries of the assigned area, the Area Coordinator serves as the on-scene coordinator for state resources during emergency operations.
